Gaze-based Interaction in 2D Interfaces

Eyes are our primary channel for perception, serving both as tools for understanding the world and as expressions of cognitive processes, including emotion, intent and attention. In interactions between humans, gaze doubles as a rich communication tool, creating attentional space between people. This prototype explores gaze as a tool in human-computer interaction, drawing on the concept of enstrangement as a device to reawaken users’ attention to web pages and their design. While pixel plants slowly overgrow neglected elements, user control is subverted, centering peripheral vision and unnoticed space.
