MARFA, meaning harbor in Arabic and used in the Lebanese dialect, is the title of my urban design for the Beirut Port – the site of the 2020 explosion. The project transforms trauma into a space of renewal. Divided into a public western zone and an upgraded operational port, the design takes inspiration from the Lebanese flag: red ground for resilience, white paths for direction, and green for life. At its core lies the Red Ground – a civic platform for memory, movement, and hope.
